Compare and Contrast

From CNN:

The officials emphasized that because it was not a sanctioned government release, the United States is not in violation of the Geneva Conventions, although an individual might be. Under the conventions, a picture holding up a prisoner to ridicule may not be released.

From the NYT:

At the interrogators’ behest, a guard tried to force the young man to his knees. But his legs, which had been pummeled by guards for several days, could no longer bend. An interrogator told Mr. Dilawar that he could see a doctor after they finished with him. When he was finally sent back to his cell, though, the guards were instructed only to chain the prisoner back to the ceiling.

Paul, nice ironic comparison. You need to read “A Bright Shining Lie” by NEIL SHEEHAN. And while you’re at it, you should read “Hell In A Very Small Place” by DR. BERNARD FALL. And for an updated version, add to that “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man” by JOHN PERKINS, which might just now be going to paperback. Three chonicles of what we have today with this place we call our country.

From what I know from US Airforce Intelligence from my father, too, although it’s a bit dated, there are few things that the US is incapable of. It’s only lately that what we’ve been capable of is starting to turn inward. All the apparatus of a police state have been being built up for the last several years. All the pieces are in place. Pretty soon now you won’t know much about the NYT article and all you’ll be seeing is what’s in the CNN article. There will be slipups, sure: but then at that point head really will start to roll.
