I read it fondly many years ago in junior high school. I like to think it deeply informed my moral compass, but that may have been the excellence of my junior high lit teacher, Mrs. Ivy, who read parts of it to us in class. She was amazing: kids wept openly in class as she read those parts. We were silent about it to each other for years afterward. I will never forget the experience.

So that's where you've been -- reading offline! On dead trees!

I think it's now official - TKAM is everyone's favorite book - everyone I know. I still haven't read it. But once I get through the wacky Henry James novels I will read it. But you really should try the Russians again - Turgenev's Fathers & Sons is short and may whet your appetite.
