I’m a pop man myself.
I’m trying to keep my excitement in check, because nothing is confirmed yet, but it appears that the far-flung outpost of my home town (a whopping 6 miles from the biggest city in the state, so practically nowhere) is getting DSL. That means for just a little extra cash (if my wife is reading) I can increase my connection speeds by an order of magnitude. Admittedly that’s in part because my dial-up only worked at 28.8k, but still.
I have a cold at the moment, and am producing quite prodigious amounts of snot. It struck me that if the human body was as good at producing blood as it is with mucous, we would never bleed to death. I offer this idea up for any geneticist who may be reading, free of charge. I’m sure it has a genetic basis, as my son seems to have inherited the ability, so with a bit of DNA and a couple of test-tubes it should be the work of a moment to make humans almost invulnerable to such harm.
