Feature upon Feature

I’ve added a linkdump to the list of features over there ->

I often find sites that I want to share, but about which I don’t have anything interesting to say beyond, “gee, check this out, cool eh?”. So now I have a special place to put them. Tired, “so, like, yesterday” links will drop off the end, as we all do in time.

Compare and Contrast

Two quotes from Tom Ridge, the man who can’t afford to put 2 children through college while earning $175,700 a year, yet is in charge of the Department of Homeland Security:

“We do not do politics at the Department of Homeland Security” {source}

“But we must understand that the kind of information available to us today is the result of the President’s leadership in the war against terror” {source}

Fortunately I just bought a new copy of 1984, so I should soon be able to help you with any cognitive dissonance you may be experiencing.

No really, it’s an emergency

If you have a thought of voting in the Presidential elections, and in particular if you are considering voting for Bush, you owe it to yourself and your country to read this article from The Whiskey Bar. Or if you prefer your news from geek-only sources, try here for a slightly calmer but probably more pointed version. From the Reg article:

“One may well wonder why the cities of New York, Washington, and Newark suddenly began burning taxpayer dollars to stage a grand security rain dance – guarding sites that might have been attacked during the past four years, or may be attacked four years hence. With such a vast window of opportunity, one must ask why there should have been a sudden rush to security starting on Monday of this week.”
