Where would you have gone before the internets were invented if your tastes ran to squirrels with vintage cameras? Apart from a security facility, of course.

I know that the Internet is largely bereft of opinions on the new MacBook Amateur, so I realize how important it is that I share mine. First thoughts include:
Over the next few days I’ll make notes on the software I install. First up, naturally, is Quicksilver. More has been written on it than I could hope to cover, so I’ll just say that it’s essential, and is reason enough all by itself to use a Mac.
I just used the word ‘eldritch‘ in conversation. Correctly!
It’s twice taken much longer than it should for me to do this, so I’d thought I’d write it up in the spirit of adding some actual content here.
If you’re using mailman to manage a mailing list/discussion group, there’s an easy way to get a list of all the subscribers to the list. Assuming that the list is managed at lists.domain.com, then you should send an email to:
groupname-request@lists.domain.com
with either a subject or a body of:
who password
Do not fill in both - I suggest leaving the subject blank. If you're not mailing from the admin address, the body should be:
who password you@domain.com
You should get a message back with a list of all members.
The Center for American Progress has a nice rebuttal of the President’s recent speech about gay marriage. It’s all worth reading, but just to give you a taste:
The American people have spoken clearly on this issue through their elected representatives and at the ballot box.
FACT: They have indeed. Eighteen states have enacted their own constitutional amendments banning same-sex marriage, and additional states are considering them. So why do we need a federal amendment?
(Incidentally, the answer to that hypothetical question is “The mid-term elections”)
